Nexum appoints managing director

Paul Kinsey, chief executive of nightclub operator Nexum Leisure, has announced the appointment of Tony Marshall as the company's managing director

Paul Kinsey, chief executive of nightclub operator Nexum Leisure, has today announced the appointment of Tony Marshall as the company's managing director, with effect from mid-April 2007.

Announcing the appointment, Kinsey said: "We are delighted that Tony has agreed to join us. His knowledge and experience of the late-night entertainment industry will prove vital as the company moves into an aggressive expansion of its existing nightclub brands Escapade and Syndicate, as well as the introduction of a major new product."

Marshall said: "I am greatly looking forward to working with Paul and his team to expand and enhance the potential of Nexum's venues and to be playing a major strategic role in the company's growth and development."

Marshall came out of retirement to join Nexum. He previously worked for Luminar, where he held the position of managing director, (operations north). Marshall has also worked for Mecca Leisure and Rank Leisure.

Ian Harries, formerly Nexum's operations director, will be promoted to retail and compliance director and will work alongside Marshall.

In a separate appointment, effective immediately, Peter Loader, formerly working for Nexum as a freelance, joins the company full-time as security and development manager.

Leicestershire-based Nexum Leisure was formed in March 2004 to acquire the solvent assets of the former Springwood PLC from receivership.

The company currently operates 12 large-capacity late-night entertainment venues located in market towns and small cities.
