The Cow in Parkstone, Dorset has been named as Morning Advertiser Pub of the Year 2007 at a glittering awards ceremony in central London last night.

The pub - which is licensee David Sax' first venture into the licensed trade - beat off stiff competition from across England and Wales to win the coveted title.

Sax received his award from comedian Rob Brydon and Morning Advertiser editor Andrew Pring.

The awards judges said: "The Cow is a truly remarkable pub that attracts three different sets of customers.

The fact that David was new to the trade before buying the pub four years ago makes the success of the Cow even more laudableMA Awards judges.

"David Sax had the courage to buy a real down-at-heel, under-performing community pub and then transform it into one that offers a stylish and comfortable lounge for drinkers, a trendy bistro bar for diners, and an lavish upstairs function room for private fine-dining parties.

"The fact that David was new to the trade before buying the pub four years ago makes the success of the Cow even more laudable."
