The telesales department at Burton-based Punch Taverns has raised an impressive £16,000 for cancer charities with a saucy calendar starring the staff.

The calendar girls, and in this case boys, initiative was the brainchild of team leader Rosie Strellis who wanted to raise money for charity and persuaded the entire telesales team to become involved.

Rosie said: "As a team we wanted to do something positive, and with New Year round the corner we thought a 2007 calendar would be an ideal stocking filler.

"We set a target to raise £6,000 but thanks to everyone's hard work, and a very generous donation from Punch, we have smashed that target and are absolutely thrilled."

The telesales girls and boys posed behind barrels of beer of differing sizes and were photographed by fellow team member Tim Turner.

The calendar was designed free of charge by Plus One and Punch Taverns have generously contributed towards the printing costs.

Almost all of the 2,000 calendars have now been sold and, with some generous customers paying as much as £10 each, a sum of more than £8,000 was raised.

Punch Taverns have generously agreed to match the figure meaning that a donation of £16,000 will be split equally between Cancer Research and Macmillan Nurses.

There are still a few calendars available at £3.50 each, so if you would like to see the team in all their glory call Rosie Strellis on 01283 501600 to purchase a copy.
