Jeanette and Anthony Goodrich are proud to boast a website that successfully conveys the warm and friendly atmosphere of their welcoming 14th-century village inn.
The site has been running for over six years and is remarkably concise. It was created with the intention of introducing new customers to the Rose and Crown while not overburdening existing patrons with too much information.
Local attractions
Visitors can find details of the current
menus and tariffs or learn more about forthcoming events and recent developments at the pub. A carefully-selected array of images
effectively illustrates the beauty and informal charm of the freehouse. The inclusion of links to local attractions aims to stimulate interest in the surrounding North Norfolk area as well as the pub itself.
Personal touch
Anyone wishing to stay in one of the pub's 16 bedrooms cannot make reservations
online. Visitors to the website are encouraged to submit a request form, which is followed up by staff member who phones to confirm details.
"We did not want to have an online booking service or to distance our customers with technology - one of the Rose and Crown's selling points is its relaxed, personal and friendly approach," says Jeanette.
Quarterly newsletter
An overwhelming majority of the Rose and Crown's customers, particularly overnight guests, now say they first heard about the pub through its website. Many of these
people also tend to sign up for the quarterly newsletter, which works in conjunction with the website to keep customers up to date with developments and special offers.
Jeanette says: "Although it is difficult to put precise figures on it, there is no doubt that the website has led to a substantial
increase in sales".
As with the pub itself, Jeanette and
Anthony are continuously reviewing the website and considering new ways to make it more appealing to customers.
