Irn-Bru is launching the first Christmas TV ad in its 105-year history, backed with a £250,000 investment.

The track "Walking in the Air", from The Snowman, has been re-recorded by a Scottish choirboy with alternative Irn-Bru lyrics. This accompanies an animated story of a Scottish lad and his own Snowman.

The animation takes viewers on a journey with a red-headed boy flying through the air with his snowy friend. They visit Scottish destinations such as Glasgow's George Square and Royal Concert Hall, the Forth Bridges and Edinburgh Castle. All is well until the boy refuses to share his Irn-Bru. Jonathan Kemp, Barr Soft Drinks commercial director, said: "Irn-Bru is a favourite over Christmas and plays an important part in the festive season in Scotland. We wanted to celebrate that fact in true Irn-Bru style, bringing the magical, feel-good factor of Christmas together with our trademark maverick humour."

The ad is also the first TV appearance for the drink in 10 years, and runs until Christmas Day.
