The Authentic Food Company has launched a range of traditional dishes under a new Authentic British brand.

The company says the dishes have been launched to meet demand for quality favourites and will boost menus with a wider choice of home-cooked-style cuisine.

The range includes beef stew and dumplings; Cumberland sausages in sage and onion gravy; lamb shank in minted gravy, and liver and onions in gravy.

They come in portion-sized pouches and can be reheated in simmering

water from frozen in approximately 20-25

minutes or from chilled in 12-15 minutes.

The Authentic Food Company says the range allows chefs to capitalise on the trend for

British favourites. Research shows that British food is the first choice for 84% of diners eating out.

Silver Hill Foods says that pubs can put on great specials for Chinese New Year, which starts on 18 February 2007.

It claims that its premium oven-ready head-on duck is now being used by 95% of the UK's top Chinese restaurants, and that a variety of different foodservice outlets buy it in for

Chinese-themed menus which are laid on around Chinese New Year.

Silver Hill also has a range of convenience products, including boneless Chinese roast duck, and whole-cooked aromatic duck, which combines Oriental spices with star anise.

This, says Silver Hill, makes their duck ideal to serve with stir-fried vegetables for lighter menus; in an aromatic duck salad; as a duck sandwich, or served with Chinese pancakes and hoisin sauce.

Heinz Foodservice has launched a BBQ sauce that can be used for dipping, marinating,

basting and grilling. The product comes in a 2.68kg plastic container.

BBQ has become a British obsession, with the UK overtaking Germany as Europe's keenest BBQers. The foodservice industry is starting to cash in, with more and more outlets cooking al fresco. Toby Barty of Heinz Foodservice, said: "The new apple-based BBQ sauce is without a doubt the most mouthwatering product on the market, not just in terms of taste but in terms of profit potential, too. We are working very closely with customers to ensure that our new sauce can support their business - while it has four main applications, it can also provide bespoke solutions. For example, it would make an ideal pizza base sauce or burger relish."
