L&E licensees can re-stock cellar
Administrator Ernst & Young has told London & Edinburgh licensees to contact Scottish & Newcastle if they have run out of beer. NEW COMMENT

Administrator Ernst & Young has told London & Edinburgh licensees to contact Scottish & Newcastle if they have run out of beer.

Yesterday orders and deliveries resumed after a deal was struck between the administrator - which is handling L&E's affairs - and S&NUK which has porterage rights to L&E outlets.

At the time S&NUK said its telesales staff would contact L&E licensees on their usual order day but this meant licensees whose usual order day was a Wednesday would have to wait a further six days to order more stock.

However, this morning an Ernst & Young spokesman told morningadvertiser.co.uk: "If a licensee has run out of beer they should ring Scottish & Newcastle and their order will be fulfilled."

Your CommentsKevin Gibson via email 22/09/2006"Reference S&N resuming beer deliveries to L&E inns. Sir/Madam, do we as lessees of these pubs that have been left with no beer to sell and no contact from s&n about l&e's situation get an automatic right to some form of compensation from this brewer for the failure to deliver us beer, and are we of the same agreement with l&e as if we buy out of tie we face a fine and disposal charge, why are we not given the same right as greedy landlords that already charge high rents and beer prices, The only contact that has been made to us is what we have made ourselfs and still no word from l&e about our situation and where we stand in this fracas. I hope you can get some answers as all we get is a head ache from banging our heads against a brick wall and it took 3 days and 4 phone calls before we got a reply from the administrators. Good luck."
