Oscar-winner Sarandon holds get-together at pub
Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon stunned regulars at a Welsh pub when she popped in for a drink last week.
The star of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Thelma and Louise stopped in for a Guinness at the Llynfi Arms in Tondu near Bridgend while researching her family tree for BBC documentary Coming Home.
"She was brilliant - absolutely amazing," said Punch lessee Terry Griffiths. "She came in with her son, three sisters and two brothers and they stayed for about two hours."
Three descendants of her great grandfather John Charles Guyatt, who died in 1876, were traced to the area and agreed to meet Sarandon in the pub.
"They almost didn't turn up," said Griffiths. "They thought it was a wind-up. All they were told was that they would be meeting someone famous."
Sarandon has promised Griffiths she will make a return visit.
"It was all a bit of a rush so she said she would come back when the Six Nations rugby starts, to watch Wales play," he said. "She said our pub was just a lovely chilled-out place and she enjoyed her time here."
