After a brief pause for the international matches last week, it's time for the players to return to their clubs and get stuck in to matters closer to home.

The Premiership resumes, and the pick of the weekend's fixtures will be shown live on TV.

It's also the start of the Champions League group stage, with plenty of action to choose from. All four of the Premiership clubs' matches will be televised, courtesy of ITV and Sky.

In the Premiership, the Saturday lunchtime match is Everton v Liverpool. The Liverpool derby game is a cracking regular fixture of the sporting calendar.

The pride and passion of the fans and players tends to make for a fantastic spectacle. Coverage is on PPlus from 12.30pm, with kick-off at 12.45pm.

Later on Saturday, the action comes live from Old Trafford, where Manchester United welcome Tottenham Hotspur. Coverage is on PPlus from 5.00pm, kick-off 5.15pm.

Sunday's live Premiership match is between West Ham and Aston Villa, when the Hammers' two new Argentinian signings, Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, will get their first taste of the Premiership. Coverage is on SS1 from 3.30pm and kick-off is at 4.00pm.

Moving on to Tuesday and Wednesday, it's time for the first matches in the group stage of the Champions League.

The four Premiership sides that have qualified - Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal - are in separate groups, but the Red Devils have been drawn together with Celtic in Group F.

Celtic go to Old Trafford on Wednesday. They have done well in competitive matches against Premiership sides, beating Blackburn and Liverpool in recent years, and would love to do a number on Man U this time. Coverage is from 6.00pm on SS2, and all matches kick off at 7.45pm.
