Peninsula Commercial has sold the Volunteer Inn at Seavington St Michael near Illminster. The freehold sold off an asking price of £470,000. Vendors Ian and Marilyn Blackmore decided to sell up and take some time out of the trade, after being at the pub for three years. The new owners are happy to have secured the purchase of their local. Husband and wife team Colin and Ruth Turner told Peninsula Commercial they are planning to stick at it "long term". Food and drink trade is evenly split and the property also features three letting rooms and a self-contained owners' flat.

The leasehold sold off the asking price of £59,950. Previous owners Paul and Stella Roberts have decided to swap village life for a city pub. The lease is held on an Inn Partnership Pub Franchise Agreement and new owner Eric Boot plans to make the most of the rest of the summer. Turnover for last year was £167,261 excluding VAT. Trade is heavily wet-led and the rent is currently £24,000 a year. Agent Bettesworths secured the deal.

AW Gore & Co sold the freehold off a guide price of £425,000 to a young couple who will be trading with assistance from their parents. The town-centre pub features two bars, trade kitchen, four letting rooms and a proprietor's flat at second-floor level. The pub was sold by a private owner. AW Gore & Co director John Graham said: "There's a chronic shortage of quality freeholds and there's massive potential to grow trade here."

Christie+Co sold the King's Arms on behalf of David Beeston and Carys Hopkins, who are taking a break from the trade. New owners Simon Blagden and Vince Hanley are experienced private operators with 20 years' in catering and hospitality. Blagden and Hanley closed the business for three weeks to refurbish and have introduced a brasserie style menu. Three offers were received for the lease and it sold for in excess of £135,000.
