GK directors share £1m-plus bonuses
Greene King executive directors shared a bonus pool of £1.026m in the 2005/2006 financial year, according to the company's annual report.
The pool was slightly down on the record £1.4m shared in the wake of the acquisition of Laurel Pub Company's neighbourhood pubs the year before.
Directors are entitled to earn 100% of their salary in bonuses if they hit performance targets.
The targets are commercially sensitive but relate to items such as trading profit and profit before tax.
Chief executive Rooney Anand earned a salary of £400,000 and a bonus of £340,000. With other benefits, his package was £789,000, up from £563,000 in 2005.
David Elliott, MD of Greene King Pub Partners, was awarded a bonus of £196,000 on top of his salary £245,00. With other benefits, his total earnings were £476,000 - up from £471,000 the year before.
Mark Angela, MD of the Pub Company, was given a bonus of £156,000 on top of his salary of £245,000.
With other benefits, his total package was worth £442,000, down from £490,000 the year before when the Laurel package of managed pubs was integrated into his division.
Former finance director Michael Shallow, who left in December 2005, earned a bonus of £183,000 on top of a salary of £185,000.
He earned another performance-related £153,000, in line with an agreement during the 2004/2005 financial year. With other benefits his total earnings were £530,000, down from £681,000 the year before. His replacement, Ian Bull, earned a bonus of £81,000 on top of his annual salary of £88,000. With benefits, he earned £197,000.
Justin Adams, who runs the Brewing Company and replaced Anand during the year, earned a bonus of £70,000 on top of his salary of £147,000. With benefits, he earned a total of £230,000.
Chairman Tim Bridge, former chief executive, earned £177,000 compared with £802,000 in his last year as chief executive.
