Club doorman facing jail
Blue Kinane, 37, of Cippenham, Berks, was found guilty of causing actual bodily harm on April 27. He was cleared of a more serious charge of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
His victim, Joanne Piednoir, 44, was crippled by the incident at Liquid Nightclub in Windsor, Berks, in May last year.
Ms Piednoir had been an active and healthy woman before the incident. She can now only manages to walk with the help of a stick and uses a wheelchair outside of her home.
The jury had earlier heard how she was asked to leave the club after a squabble. Kinane grabbed the seven-stone Ms Piednoir in a full Nelson - a hold popular with wrestlers and described by witnesses as "too dangerous even for the police to use."
The trial heard Kinane had put his arms under hers then brought them up and cupped his hands at the back of her neck, pushing her head forward.
"I had asked that he let me go as he was hurting me," Ms Piednoir told the jury at Reading Crown Court.
"I had also voiced that I couldn't breathe. The request was met with him pushing on my neck, at which point I knew my neck was broken."
The jury found Kinane not guilty of the lesser charge of ABH because they were not convinced he had been malicious in his use of force. Kinane was granted conditional bail. Sentencing was adjourned until June 2.
