The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is urging pubs and pub-goers alike to make the most of Mild Day on May 6.

CAMRA has designated May as Mild Month and the organisation's branches across the country will be hosting the first events to promote the distinct and tasty beer in eight days time. Breweries are also getting behind the initiative, with Tynemill brewery in Nottingham pledging to try and make sure all of its 20 pubs sell at least one mild all of the time throughout May.

Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries has adapted CAMRA's 'Wild about Mild' leaflet to feature their own mild brands. The leaflets will be distributed to over 200 pubs selling their beers during May.

Tracy Saunders, chair of CAMRA's Light and Dark Supporters Group which campaigns specifically for Britain's endangered beer styles, said: "Mild is a superb light and refreshing real ale alternative to lager and many varieties are available in May. With spring upon us what better time than the first weekend of May to go out and find a pint of this versatile and traditional beer."
