JD Wetherspoon has expanded its Thursday night Curry Club menu with the addition of seven new dishes.

The extra choice will mean up to 16 different curries available for customers at Wetherspoon's biggest and highest volume outlets.

The company has also retained its £4.99 'curry and a drink promotion which offers diners a meal and choice of a pint of beer, lager or cider, glass of wine, soft drink or mineral water.

Among the newcomers are Chicken Bhuna, Goan Prawn, Chicken Achari and Beef Madras.

A number of new side orders, priced between £1 and £1.75, have also been introduced.

'The new dishes bring a different look and wider choice to the Curry Club which we believe will be very well received, said JDW's food development manager Jena Timothy. 'Customer response since the launch has been very positive and the extra choice now available has gone down very well.

'The number of curry dishes varies depending on the size of the outlet but only the biggest and most successful curry venues across the estate will serve up the whole 16-dish range.

'People want variety so we are expanding the menu in some of our most successful outlets.

The Thursday Curry Club, which operates from 5pm to 10pm, has been a major success for Wetherspoon with tens of thousands of curries sold each week.

Wetherspoon has also launched Lavazza Coffee into pubs across its estate after concluding a deal with its Italian producers.

The coffee has been specially blended by Lavazza exclusively for Wetherspoon. The premium coffee has been on trial for three months in selected outlets but is expected to roll out across the whole estate over the next few months.

'Lavazza is Italy's best-selling coffee and will be marketed by us very much as a premium brand said Timothy.

'We want to offer customers a quality product and see Lavazza fitting the bill perfectly.

JD Wetherspoon sells 250,000 cups of coffee each week, which equates to 12 million cups per year.
