Nearly 30 Leicestershire villagers have staged a protest to try to save the Lord Bassett Arms in Sapcote from demolition.

Owners Tom and Mary Swain have submitted plans to knock down the pub and build six houses but villagers say the pub forms "part of the historic gateway to Sapcote".

Drum in Leyton takes Camra title The Drum in Leyton has been named Pub of the Year for the second year running by the East London and City branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra).
