SFI Group has embarked on a multi-million pound refurbishment programme for its Litten Tree chain.

The first of the new-look high street pubs opened in Birmingham at the start of September (pictured), with a further six outlets scheduled for the revamp by the end of October.

SFI, which also operates the Slug and Lettuce and Bar Med chains, describes the new image as an evolution of the Litten Tree brand. The aim is to create a comfortable, modern environment, whilst retaining an element of the traditional pub feel.

Litten Tree has always been a chameleon brand, targeting shoppers and the lunchtime/after work business market before becoming an entertainment and party venue at night. The new image will also put more emphasis on food, with a new menu and wine list, and table service offered at lunchtimes.

Jez King, operations director of the Litten Tree chain, said: "We felt the time had come to turn over a new leaf and invest in our popular Litten Tree estate to provide our customers with an enhanced environment and much improved food and drink offer.

"We believe the new look pubs will have something fresh to offer a diverse range of customers from the corporate market and pub traditionalists to sports fans and party goers."
