- Guy Simmonds, the property agent and training provider, has launched a new drug awareness module to its training courses.
Working alongside the police and licensing magistrates, the agent has updated its course syllabus to provide information to licensees on date rape drugs such as GHB and rohypnol.
Managing director Stephen Taylor said: "The use of illegal drugs has become a growing problem within the licensed trade and licensees need to be doing all they can to try and eliminate this problem.
"By arming themselves and their staff with extensive knowledge on the substances involved and learning how to detect usage, they can practice due diligence in running their businesses."

The company is looking to purchase new pubs to add to its existing estate. Trade director Stephen Gould said: "The brewery is experiencing good growth and we are in a position to buy a number of pubs should the right ones present themselves."

Pyramid Pub Management is investing in local community pubs as part of its development strategy.
The projects are part of a £3m investment programme from the company. Director of developments Graham Andrews said: "We have stepped up a gear with our refurbishment programme. This has seen us make the benchmark of over 110 capital developments on our community locals, with a least 20 projects targeted for 2004."
Many of the sites were destined to become derelict sites.
