Pub and bar entrepreneurs have featured heavily in a list of the rich and famous from the hotel and restaurant sector.
Michael Cannon (pictured) was the top-placed placed pub tycoon in the index, compiled by Hotel & Restaurant magazine, sister title to Publican.
With an estimated wealth of £160m, he was placed fifth in the index. During his career, Mr Cannon has bought and sold the Devenish, Magic and Morrells of Oxford, banking big profits each time.
He has a US burger restaurant business called Fuddruckers and is currently stalking the Eldridge Pope pub group.
Luke Johnson, of Belgo fame, was placed eighth with £80m. Industry father-figure Peter Salussolia of Glendola Leisure came in at 15 with an estimated fortune of £42m.
Kenneth Waugh of Edinburgh-based Festival Inns came in at 41 with £13m while Mark Fuller, who founded London nightspot Sugar Reef, was placed at 43 with £12m.
Anthony Hancock, founder of Blubeckers, which is now owned by CI Traders, was at 48 with £10.4m and Richard Carr of Bournemeouth club and bar group Future 3000, was at 53 with £10m.
Wendy Elliott and David Withers, the duo behind Montpeliers, the Edinburgh-based bar group have £4m each while Matthew Saunders of Fat Cat Café Bars also has £4m.
