This isn't just any pub promotion. It's an anti-retailers promotion.

A wine bar owner is fighting back against supermarkets' discounted food offers with a poster pastiche of Marks & Spencer's "Dine in for £10" promotion.

Andrew Billington, owner of Montpellier Wine Bar & Restaurant in Cheltenham, is displaying four posters in his bar windows which read "Dine out. Don't miss out. This is not over priced, over packaged food.... this is succulent, naturally ripened, hand picked food from the most prestigious farmers in the Cotswolds. We do not process food, this is locally sourced food by the award winning Montpellier Wine Bar chefs."

Billington said: "Over recent months the pressures to retain customers have been increasing and have been exacerbated by the muscle of the supermarkets running at cost or below cost deals to keep pub, bar and restaurant goers at home.

"What if all those connected to the food and drink on-trade, including local suppliers who are being affected began to consider which retailers to shop at?"

Billington plans to keep the posters which cost £1,500 in the bar's window until the end of May.
