TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson has opened the doors to his new country pub – the Farmer's Dog, near Burford, Oxfordshire.

It's moniker was revealed on social media, just days before the Cotswold pub was set to begin welcoming customers. The pub will be serving Hawkstone Brewery beer and cider – a business Clarkson is also part of.

It opened on Friday (23 August) and aims to serve largely British produce including pork, beef, lamb and venison.

Clarkson announced the opening date of the pub, which was previously named the Windmill, near Burford, Oxfordshire on A Level results day last week (Thursday 15 August) – a date he has typically taken to social media to reassure students who didn’t get the results they hoped for.

In July, it was reported Clarkson had purchased a pub in the Cotswolds. He revealed the move in an article in The Sunday Times where Clarkson stated it was aiming to put “fun back in” to the pub again.

Pub updates

Clarkson is also the co-founder of Hawkstone Brewery and the company’s Instagram has been sharing updates on the pub.

In a recent Instagram post, it shared farmer and star of Clarkson’s Farm Kaleb Cooper explaining spring barley grown on the farm will be used in the beer and if it doesn’t, it will be fed back to the cows, which will be served at the pub.

Earlier this month (August), operators issued words of wisdom to Clarkson upon opening the Oxfordshire site.

Operator advice

A number of them urged the controversial celebrity to ensure he had the right team around him to help the business run smoothly.

Recently, the TV presenter reached out for support and opinions on social media. He stated he was planning to serve all British produce at the pub but was struggling to find black pepper grown in the country as well as asking what kind of flag should be flown on the pole in the pub’s garden.
