Midlands-based brewer Davenports has launched a new lager called England's Glory.

Available on draught and in cans, the 4% ABV lager is described as a celebration of all things British, brewed with English hops to deliver a "classic" English lager taste.

England's Glory is the first canned and draught lager product Davenports have produced in more than 30 years. The company says the move marks its development from niche cask ales to a more mainstream arena, helping position the brand as a major player in Midlands brewing.

Davenports’ spokesman Paul Steeples said; “We’ve had a fantastic response to our soft launch and tasting events, many of our testing establishment reported that Englands Glory was out selling the Midlands’ leading lager 3:1 – we’re thrilled with the response so far.

"Our reputation for real cask ales is very strong, we’re hoping to emulate that in the arena of draft and canned lagers."
