Activ gets in the Mood
A Newcastle-on-Tyne nightclub formerly run by Cougar Leisure has been bought by Lincolnshire-based bar and leisure venue operator Activ Leisure, which has nationwide expansion plans.
Activ plans to spend £100,000 revamping Mood over the next four to six weeks and invest a further £500,000 in a thorough overhaul next summer.
Mood is among six ex-Cougar venues in northern England that have been marketed by Christie+Co after Cougar went into ad-ministration in January. The venue closed at he start of the year and Activ completed on the sale on 20 May.
Activ Leisure director Matt Clark said he intended to "break away from the cheap drink culture that other licensed premises have adopted in the city".
The first revamp will see a modernisation of the main room and a new theme added to the private area.
Activ currently operates sites within the West End Leisure complex in Spalding, Lincolnshire, including Loaded Nightclub & The Lounge, Alley Catz Ten Pin Bowling Alley and Bounce Sports Bar.
