A former general manager for Greene King-owned pub company Realpubs is set to take on a pub operated by ETM Group, the London-based gastropub operator led by Tom and Ed Martin.

Michael Burman is due to complete on ETM's Empress of India in Victoria Park, east London, next week.

The free-of-tie lease on the site has been marketed for around £200,000.

Burman was most recently general manager at Real-pubs' Duke of Sussex in Chiswick and spent three years in charge of the firm's North London Tavern in Kilburn. Realpubs co-founder Nick Pring said: "Michael has run two pubs for us extremely successfully. He built up [the Duke of Sussex and the North London Tavern] from a very low base."

Meanwhile, ETM Group is planning to open two venues in the Whitbread Brewery building in the City during the summer.
