Costwold Spring Brewery's mild Old Sodbury has been named the SIBA Supreme Beer Champion at the group's annual conference.

The 3.9 per cent brew was announced as the overall winner of the National Beer Competition last week.

Nik Milo, head brewer at the Gloucestershire brewery, said: "It's a real thrill to win the top prize. Old Sodbury, which we've been brewing since 2007, has a more complex flavour than most milds, thanks to the selection of at least seven grains used in its production."

Awards were also made in a further seven cask categories plus SIBA's first ever bottled beer and craft beer categories.

The winners were London-based Kernel Brewery Export Stout and Glasgow brewer Noah Beers Hefe-Weizen respectively.
