Enterprise Inns' Joe Smith has been named Business Development Manager of the Year at the Association of Licensed Multiple Operators (ALMR) Operations Managers Awards.

At the ceremony in Leeds last week Joanne Probert, of the Orchid Group, picked up Area Manager of the Year and Punch Taverns' BDM Sim Baker was highly commended for his efforts.

ALMR chief executive Nick Bish said: "Every year I say that the Operations Managers Awards process gets tougher and the quality of the finalists and winners gets higher. This year's results confirm this.

"The role of operations manager is one of the most demanding in the sector and crucially so in the difficult business climate we are facing now.

"These awards seek out and recognise the abundance of talent that the industry has. The individuals we have seen are packed with energy, flair and an utter commitment to the success of their businesses - be they managed or leased."

Joanne said: "I'm thrilled with such a prestigious win. It was a tough entry process, which is testament to the ever increasing high standards in our industry. Taking part was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on my career path and current job. There is just so much an area manager does - I can't believe I fit it all in every day!"
