The Black Horse in Nuthurst, West Sussex, has become the 60th pub to receive a Beautiful Beer Gold Award through the Marston's CaskForce initiative.

Throughout this year, ten pubs a month are being picked to receive a Beautiful Beer assessment, funded by Marston's. All 60 have passed the 'cellar to glass' inspection receiving a Beautiful Beer plaque.

One monthly winner also receives a £500 cheque from Marston's; to spend on pub improvements, with one monthly winner also going into the CaskForce grand final and the chance to win a rent-free year.

Over 500 pubs from Aberdeen to St Ives now hold the Beautiful Beer Award. Alll pubs winning an Award receive a plaque, a certificate and help with marketing their achievement to local customers.

Clive Henwood, licensee of The Black Horse, commented, "We're a village pub and don't get a lot of passing trade. So, when we won the Beautiful Beer Award, it was a way to shout about the pub as a place to come to for a great beer.

"We've had good coverage in the local paper, our regulars talk about it and we've seen some new faces. And even though we're a strong cask ale pub and have the Cask Marque Award, it's good to have the Beautiful Beer one as it's about our bottled beers as well."

The awards cover the entire beer category - bottled, keg and cask - and are available at gold and platinum level. For more details, visit www.beautifulbeer.com/awards.aspx
