Get inspired at the National Licensed Business Show

Paying a visit to the Publican-​backed National Licensed Business Show (NLBS) could inspire you and your business on to bigger and better things.

NLBS runs for the third time later this month at the Birmingham and licensees will be able to get advice and tips from industry experts through the education programme and by visiting the vast array of exhibitors.

Last year Skegness licensee Robert Stratford visited the show and was given the encouragement he needed to return to the industry after he had left for two years following the death of his wife.

He said the show inspired him to follow his dream of launching a sophisticated 'city-style' bar as an alternative to traditional pubs in Skegness.

"The show was a fantastic refresher," he said, "I saw what products were new and what was going on since I'd left the trade.

"It inspired me to roll my sleeves up and really get started."

Part of the help he received was in the form of advice from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET). Following that he now has 80 wines on offer at his bar Nudges Brasserie.

The WSET will again be among the exhibitors this year as will a host of other big names.

There will be energy-saving advice from Npower and staying with the green theme Mil-tek will provide recycling tips.

Anglo-tech will help combat cash fraud prevention and Cheeky Rascals will give tips on how to become a family-friendly pub.

Meanwhile in the Real Ale Pavilion a range of seasonal and flagship beers will be on offer from the likes of Wells & Young's, St Austell, Wye Valley and Hook Norton.

And members of The Publican​ team will chair a range of seminars on how to make the most of your business.
