'UK's strongest beer ever has campaigners all in a froth'

The owners of one of Scotland's largest independent breweries were yesterday attacked by health campaigners and politicians for creating Britain's most potent beer ever, with a 12 per cent alcohol content. The brewery, BrewDog, has made an initial run of 2,000 bottles - The Scotsman​

C&C Group, the company behind Magners and Bulmers cider, have said in a trading statement that its half year profit growth could be flat, citing sliding cider consumption in the UK and Irish markets. The group said the decline in demand for cider reflected weak market conditions, especially in the on-trade - Financial Times ​

An Estonian sailor was fined £2,000 under drink-driving legislation after being found drunk whilst captaining his 17,000 tonne cargo ship.
