Carling has launched a new £14m television ad campaign continuing its "Mates" theme.

The ad features the same five characters as previously and again highlights the loyalty of a group of close mates.

The latest ad, "Rescue", sees the group rescue one of their friends from the dullest tea party.

The ad shows the group as pioneers of the early wild west.

The commercial was shot on location in Spain at the site of Sergio Leone's seminal "Good, the Bad and the Ugly".

The new ad is part of a 10-week campaign supported by online activity of a wild west nature.

"This latest instalment of the adventures of our five mates continues to build on Carling's credentials as Britain's most sociable pint," said Carling brand director Martin Coyle.

Carling is also investing in a major push behind cold beer this summer under the theme "Strike Cold", with full on and off trade activity planned as well as the recently announced broadcast sponsorship of ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 movies.
