Sell More Save More launches
THIRTEEN ELITE category champions. Three freehouses. One profitable future for the nation's pubs.
This is the thinking behind Sell More, Save More, the major project The Publican is launching this week to help lead pubs through what could be the most challenging trading year they will ever face.
The smoking ban is on the horizon. Licensees continue to grapple with the fall-out from the new Licensing Act. Red tape keeps on piling up. Rising costs, led by energy suppliers, closely followed by spiralling beer prices, continue to besiege the sector.
With the help of our 13 category champions, ranging from Coca-Cola to Diageo, Brakes to Pernod-Ricard, we aim to find new and innovative ways for licensees to meet these challenges, sell more across the pub and drive new efficiencies from the business throughout 2007.
Sell More, Save More will see each supplier regularly visit the three pubs chosen over the course of the year, putting in equipment, giving advice on ranging and generally advising the licensees on how to make sure that every category, and every area of their pub, inside and out, is paying its way.
The three pubs will be chosen following a strict judging process to represent three different trading styles:
- a community pub
- a rural or out-of-town pub
- a high street or young person's venue.
We will report back monthly from the pubs in the pages of The Publican and via www.thepublican.com, building up over the course of the year into a project which each and every reader will be able to take something from.
