Chocolate beer from Miller

SAB Miller is launching a chocolate lager into the US market, after trialling it at the Great American Beer Festival in 2005.

Frederic Miller Classic Chocolate Lager contains 5.5% abv and is available in six states in the mid-west US.

Pete Marino, company spokesperson for Miller Brewing Company in the US, said: "It is already available in thousands of outlets over here, and has had lots of attention.

"We've launched it as a Christmas seasonal, since it is a time when people will be indulging themselves."

The brewing process, incorporating cacao nibs for an authentic taste, returns to the original brewing methods used by Miller Brewing founder Frederick Miller in 1855 and marries this with the latest innovations in brewing. The company believe that this has produced the most complex chocolate taste to date.

Depending on the beer's performance in the US, the beer could be launched into the UK market.

Tennent's sponsors Scots' football

Tennent's Lager has announced its four-year sponsorship of the

Scottish National

Football Team.

The deal will run until after the World Cup Finals in 2010.

The sponsorship covers the Scottish Senior Squad, Scotland Future Squad and Scotland's Women's Senior Squad.

George Kyle, Tennent's head of sponsorship, said:

"Tennent's have been involved in football for the last 32 years; no other brand has come close in terms of support for the game of football in Scotland.

"This sponsorship is yet another major commitment to football and we hope our investment will contribute not only in the short-term but also to the future development of the game within Scotland."

Tennent's 18-year sponsorship of the Scottish Cup will also end after the 2007 Tennent's Scottish Cup Final.

Bavaria Premium takes to Sky

Dutch lager Bavaria is stepping up the marketing support for Bavaria Premium through a TV sponsorship with Sky.

The beer's debut

appearance will be during Sky's "Tough at Ten" season which will broadcast a

selection of the "toughest"

movies over recent years.

The "Tough at Ten" strand airs on Sky Movies 1 or 2 every Wednesday at 10pm and will now be accompanied by one of four, 15 second Bavaria

trailers featuring Bavaria's "Real Men".

Each advert shows a different character trying to get out of everyday chores such as getting a hair cut or doing the weekly shop, to have a Bavaria with friends.

Sarah Swainson, Bavaria's UK marketing manager said: "The campaign is intended as a tongue-in-cheek snap-shot of today's modern lager drinker - men that are confident about their masculinity and are willing to challenge the rise in

metrosexual attitudes."
