'It held out okay until last week, when it broke down and we had to get people round to put a new python in. They were fast and efficient. They came in the next day and ripped out the big cooler and swapped it with a new one. We've no complaints with the way the cellar cooling is handled. It's probably a bit different for us in Cumbria. I don't think (maintenance workers) have a big area to cover so we usually get same-day service.

'To be honest, for the 13 years I've been at the Langtrys' I've only called people out once (to fix the cellar). The system works perfectly well. We put plastic cellar strips in everywhere so it is totally enclosed, which seems to have done the job.

'It was alright this year. We made sure in early May that the system was looked over. We like to get them out at around that time, and if there's a charge, we pay it. It means that, by summer, you know it will be in a good condition.

'It coped pretty well, actually. This is predominately a cask ale pub so we don't have what I call fancy continental beers with big fonts. It's just a case of keeping the cellar cool, and that's it. We've had the odd spat fans burning out, motors burning out, things like that but we've not had anything big go off in the cellar.
