Snape, Suffolk, 01728 688324 Quality food in particular "the world's best sticky-toffee pudding" is the key attraction of this Adnams' pub, according to those polled for the Morning Advertiser's survey. Winner of the Good Pub Guide's Suffolk dining pub of the year in 2002, the Crown Inn attracts consumers looking to sample its famous and seasonally-changing menu. And with a reputation for sourcing the freshest, local fish and game, it's not surprising that certain celebrity chefs are counted among the inn's fans. "When Rick Stein was filming his Food Heroes series for the BBC, he did some pork tasting in the Suffolk area," says tenant, Diane Maylott. "He had visited us before and chose to film from here, using our facilities." But food isn't the only attraction at this 15th-century inn, complete with beams, brick floors and, what is dubbed, the finest double Suffolk settle in existence. The drink is also of a high standard and kept pristinely well. "We have over 40 wines with 19 available by the glass including Champagne," says Maylott. And, Maylott says the pub's proximity to the Aldeburgh music festival at Snape Maltings also helps drum up extra trade.
