The group, some of whose members have had friends who have been looked after by Macmillan nurses, are aiming to raise money to cover the costs of a nurse for a year.
MD of the pub group, James Waddington, said: “Macmillan Cancer Support is entirely dependent on fundraising to maintain its fantastic service, both to patients and carers. We intend to inspire staff and customers to help us achieve these funds. We are both proud and committed to making it happen.”
Partnership
Fundraising manager for Macmillan, Hannah Richmond, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Inglenook Inns and Taverns and we’re extremely grateful to James and the team for all the efforts they’re putting into organising various fundraising activities.
“All of the money raised throughout the partnership will be spent on our vital services, providing medial, practical, financial and emotional support for people affected by cancer and their families.”
Previous achievements
In the past, Waddington has completed hard core challenge Tough Mudder, bungee jumping, the Great North Run and triathlons in a bid to raise money. Now, Inglenook and Macmillan’s partnership has organised a Pedal-inn for Macmillan Cancer Support, in which the MD will take a circular route around the Inglenook sites.
The route, which started on Tuesday (20 September) and finishes tomorrow (Saturday, 24 September), includes a total of 17 venues and 422 miles, starting and ending at the Heron in Kendal, Cumbria. Individual sites will display the Macmillan collection boxes and are involved in organising activities to give funds a boost.
