The research, undertaken by online dog-sitting platform DogBuddy.com, also claims that nearly a quarter have taken their dogs elsewhere if a pub said it was dog-friendly but that wasn't the case.
The news from a survey of more than 2,500 dog owners comes alongside the launch of DogBuddy.com's Dog-friendly Pub Awards, which aims to find the UK’s best canine welcoming drinking establishments.
It also discovered that a third of dog-owners often struggling to find a dog-friendly pub, and as a result the firm is now calling on pubs to embrace the animals.
Values
The awards will showcase existing dog-friendly establishments but additionally aims to promote dog-friendly values across all pubs nationwide - inspiring dog-owners to visit local pubs during walks and on all occasions.

Voting is open today (Friday 26 August), which is also National Dog Day, at dogbuddypubs.com and the closing date for the competition is 31 October.
