JJ Food Service recognised for strong profit growth
Wholesaler JJ Food Service has been named as one of the most profitable businesses in the UK by The Sunday Times.

The company ranked 70th on the newspaper's league table – which ranks the country’s top 100 private companies with fast-growing profits – after reporting annual profit growth of 66.38%.

Mustafa Kiamil, managing director of JJ Food Service, said: “Our market has changed dramatically over the past few years and it shows no sign of slowing.

“By continuing to listen to our customers and adapting to changes in shopper behaviour, particularly the move to online ordering, we continue to thrive – I would like to thank all our staff, suppliers and customers for their continued support and loyalty.”

The company has expanded its fruit and vegetable, fresh meat, fish and own-brand product lines over the past year as well as launching a new customer ordering app and website utilising ‘machine-learning’ technology to predict shoppers’ orders.

Plans are underway for the company to open more sites over the next year, it said.

The company recently announced a sourcing and supply chain agreement with fish distributor Unique Seafood, which it said would enable it to secure a constant and reliable supply of high-quality, competitively-priced fish.

The move demonstrated JJ’s determination to grow within the UK fish and chip market, Kiamil added.
