Former Brewdog man opens vegan-focused pub in Bristol
The Adam & Eve, Hotwells, serves no dishes that contain any meat in them, with roughly 80% of menu options containing no animal products whatsoever and suitable for vegan customers.
Owner Bruce Gray, a vegan himself, who previously worked for BrewDog, told the Western Daily Press he wanted to make the pub different from other gastropubs in the city.
“We aim to serve food which is exciting, diverse and flavoursome. We have paid a lot of attention to textures and flavours so we think it is a menu for people to get really excited about,” he said.
“People often ask me how I manage to be a vegan because they think that all I eat is salad. But actually when we serve people who eat meat our food they are amazed by how diverse and delicious it all is.”
Sample dishes include a range of takes on traditional ‘pub classics’ such as roast dinners as well as options inspired by world cuisine.
Gray added that whilst the food was important, he wanted the pub to be a local hub for the community.
“Bristol is a very accepting and almost bohemian city and very willing to support new independent businesses.”
