St Austell, which acquired Bath Ales in July 2016, has commissioned Musk Engineering to build the new 'Hare' brewery with a tentative completion date of spring 2018.
St Austell & Bath Ales brewing director Roger Ryman said: “Since we have come together, I have been very impressed with the skills and capabilities of the Bath Ales brewing team."
Support will be given
Ryman continued: “We will continue to give them the support and resources they need to succeed and deliver what they have the potential to do.”
The brewery is expected to double Bath Ales’ production capacity to 50,000 barrels – more than 14.5m pints. Bath Ales will also use the facility to experiment with new beer styles, The Morning Advertiser understands.
It has also appointed Tim McCord as new general manager.
Legacy continues
St Austell chief executive James Staughton said: “When we announced the coming together of St Austell Brewery and Bath Ales, we committed to a long-term, significant investment in the brands, pub estate, people and the brewing facilities.”
Staughton added: “The creation of a new brewhouse will ensure we’re able to offer even more of what Bath Ales’ customers know and love.
“Alongside the appointment of Tim, we’re very much looking forward to being a part of Bath Ales’ next chapter and building on the legacy created by its founders.”
