Happy: North Brewing Co director Christian Townsley is looking forward to the printed cans
The brewing arm of North Bar Co is set to move away from its current paper labels after updated designs were approved for printed cans.

Though sad to see the paper labels go, North Bar director Christian Townsley said the brewery was very happy with the new designs.

He said: “We are excited to move forward with a number of new distribution channels for the cans including a national listing with Matthew Clark, potential partnerships with several national supermarkets and further export opportunities in Sweden, Ireland and Holland.”

Plans to double capacity

Plans are also in place to double the brewing capacity of the Sheepscar brewery site in Leeds and the team of staff has recently been expanded in anticipation of a busy year ahead.

The newly created position of sales coordinator was filled by former general manager of North Bar Alfred, Fay Haworth, in January, while Sam Bennett took on the role of assistant brewer.

In December last year, North Brewing Co teamed up with long-time friends and heroes Magic Rock for a collaborative brewing project.

Publican Awards finalists

The resulting Double IPA had an 8.4% ABV and was described by North Brewing Company’s then head brewer, Seb Brink as “big hitting, dry and bitter”.

The Leeds-based group are also finalists in this year’s Publican Awards for Best Brewing Pub Company.

The company won Best Drinks Offer at the 2014 awards and since then has opened the Sheepscar brewery.
