Innis & Gunn launches new Whiskey barrel-aged stout
The stout, called Kith & Kin (5.8% ABV), has been aged in Teeling’s Small Batch Irish Whiskey barrels. It is available in 330ml bottles online and on draught at Innis & Gunn Beer Kitchens.
Innis & Gunn founder Dougal Gunn Sharp said: “We’ve always held a great deal of admiration for Teeling’s ethos of quality and innovation.”
‘Uncompromising flavour’
“Like us, they are uncompromising when it comes to flavour and I was intrigued to see what we could create together. When we first tasted the stout, with its rich notes of chocolate and coconut, it was clear we were on to a winner.”
Barrels used to create the stout have been returned to Teeling, which is currently using them in the maturation of a stout-finished whiskey, which it will release in spring 2017.
Stand-alone brews
Innis & Gunn has launched a series of stand-alone brews recently, including a limited edition Vintage 7.7% beer, a beer made with water “harvested” from clouds above the Scottish highlands, and a non-alcoholic pale ale.
It raised £2.5m in a recent Crowdcube campaign, called AdventureCapital, smashing its initial target of £1m in just three days. The brewery sold 4.79% of its share capital to 2012 investors once it had reached its target.
The brewery’s flagship lager was named one of the UK’s top 100 drinks brands in The Morning Advertiser's Drinks List 2016.
