Brewdog launches Hong Kong bar

Scottish brewery BrewDog is to launch a new bar in Hong Kong.

The venue will be in SoHo - the area of the city populated with boutiques, galleries and other restaurants and bars. Directly opposite one of the city’s monuments, the Central Police Station, it's design will feature locally-designed graffiti.

BrewDog Hong Kong will offer 14 different draft lines and include typical BrewDog lines, such as its flagship Punk IPA, alongside locally sourced beers from the likes of artisanal brewers Young Master, Moonzen and Kowloon Bay Brewery.

A food menu will include burgers, French dip sandwiches and other classic soul food as well as dishes inspired by local influences.

The bar will be the second BrewDog bar in Asia following BrewDog Rappongi, which is located in Tokyo.

BrewDog co-founder, James Watt said: “Our latest BrewDog bar will be our second bar in Asia, and we’re so psyched to continue reaching new corners of planet Earth with an unrelenting mix of bold brews.

"Our beers have had the seal of approval in Hong Kong for more than five years so opening a bar here was an absolute no-brainer. As an international city currently thriving with a craft uprising, we’re more than proud to finally reach a new army of loyal fans and introduce them to some of the best beer Asia has ever tasted.”

Watt continued: “We’ve now acquired well over 35,000 Equity Punks and are super proud to see their continued loyalty result in with yet another opening. 2015 was a phenomenal year for BrewDog, with a fresh round of Equity for Punks, and the launch of new craft beer venues across Finland, London, Scotland and beyond. This year will be no different, we’re switching up the norm, challenging perceptions and laughing in the face of mass-produced beer ‘brands’ whose sales are sinking as fast as their values.”

BrewDog has ambitious plans to continue its bar acquisitions in both the UK and abroad, and to date as launched venues in São Paulo, Rome and Stockholm, as well as established UK venues including Soho, Aberdeen, Leeds, and Brighton.

2016 will also see the arrival of BrewDog USA brewery in Columbus as the brewer plans to spread into the American market.
