BrewDog to open first US pub

BrewDog will open its first US pub at its brewery and headquarters in Canal Winchester, Ohio, later this month (February).

DogTap will open its doors on 20 February and will include a 10,000sq ft taproom alongside a restaurant.

BrewDog co-founder James Watt said the site will be the brewer's biggest venue in the world.

'Insane' beer list

He added: "It’s huge, and is looking amazing! There’s an insane beer list ready to rock from 20 February, featuring BrewDog as well as a range of amazing local breweries’ beers. Give me Columbus or give me death (BrewDog's tagline)."

BrewDog announced plans to build a sour beer brewery in Scotland in September last year, which detailed the proposed facility including the brewery, production offices, a car park and a new visitors' centre.

However, the Scottish brewer slammed Aberdeenshire Council after it claimed the price of the land earmarked for development was more than "60 times [the] fair market value".

The council responded by saying it was disappointed BrewDog had broken the confidentiality agreement during the ongoing discussions.

'Real ale' launch

Aberdeenshire Council chief executive Jim Savege said the council was proactive in its commitment to local businesses but had a responsibility to ensure best value for public money.

BrewDog announced the launch of a new, "live" key-keg version of its infamous Dead Pony Club ale last summer (July).

The beer was compatible with the Campaign for Real Ale's guidelines on what classifies real ale thanks to its key-keg production process.

BrewDog had previously held back from creating cask ale, saying it was too difficult to ensure the drink's quality across its estate and to free-of-tie operators.
