The Market Drayton-based brewery, has announced new plans for a major investment in the New Inn, Harborne.

The business acquired the New Inn in May 2024. The team has a new vision to revitalise the establishment and make it a central hub for the Harborne community, showcasing their acclaimed Joule’s ales.

Fresh chapter

Joule’s Brewery are set to invest around £600,000, into the pub while aiming to preserve its existing charm.

Development director Anna Brakel said: “The New Inn is a special site and one that we are very proud to now call a Joule’s Brewery Taphouse.

“We are committed to bringing Joule’s Brewery to Birmingham and are pleased to reveal that this will be our biggest investment in a taphouse to date.”

The plans encompass a multifaceted approach to enhancing the New Inn. Inside, the brewery will introduce layers of reclaimed materials, such as bricks and panelling, to honour the pub’s history.

Ample seating is set to be showcased, to accommodate both casual gatherings and family meals. Outside, a complete refresh is planned, including landscaping, updated lighting, and new seating.

Culinary destination

The New Inn’s kitchen is set to undergo upgrades to facilitate the delivery of a classic pub centred menu, made with locally sourced ingredients. Alongside the menu, Joule’s range of ales will be available, brewed with local ingredients, including pure Shropshire mineral water.

Joule’s Brewery managing director Vicky Colclough said: “We believe that all pubs are honeypots of the community, our plans are to create the New Inn to be once again a centre for the community of Harborne and the wider towns.”

The brewery aim to preserve spaces such as the snug and original bar, while also introducing more flexible areas.

They also plan to expand dining options, offering a new pub food menu offering both classic dishes and fresh offerings.
