Woodforde’s Brewery has entered the low & no alcohol category with the launch of Volt 0.5.

A low alcohol version of its award-winning Volt American IPA, the new brew has been made with American hops to give it a citrusy taste and pine aroma, retaining the same taste as the 4.5% version.

The arrival of the 0.5% IPA marks Woodforde’s first foray into the low and no alcohol market, which has seen a surge in popularity in recent years.

Woodforde’s head brewer Aaron Taubman said: “We are thrilled to make history at Woodforde’s with the unveiling of our first ever low alcohol beer.

Refreshing brew

“There’s been a real buzz in the team experimenting with what our first entry into the market might look like – but it was important for us to retain the great taste our customers know and love.

“Volt has continually been one of our most popular beers, so we’re pleased to have packed a real flavour punch into Volt 0.5 while keeping it light. It’s a really refreshing brew.”

Taubman added the brewery wanted to ensure the beer was “accessible to as many people as possible” by making it vegan friendly and gluten free.

Woodforde’s Volt 0.5% is available now in 500ml bottle format at RRP £14 for a box of eight, as well as in pubs across East Anglia.

Soaring sales

The new brew joins Woodforde’s core range of beers, including Wherry, a 3.8% ABV amber ale, Nelson’s, a 4.5% bitter, Reedlighter, a 4% ABV pale ale, and Nog, a 4.6% dark ale.

The brewery is also a proud signatory to The Cask Project.

It comes as Diageo GB last week told The Morning Advertiser (The MA) low & no drinks have become a “key part” of socialising in the on-trade.
