Stonegate opened the new cocktail beerhall themed site in Leeds on Friday 6 December.

The site received a £1m investment, transforming the former Walkabout venue into a “beerhall for cocktail lovers”, Stonegate said.

The concept, which was named after the Margarita cocktail, is set to offer a seven day a week programme of live music and entertainment.

Stonegate Group CEO David McDowall outlined how the new site took changing consumer behaviour into account.

New experiences

He said: “In the past few years, the way in which guests socialise has rapidly changed.

“Going out remains a real priority but guests are going out at different times and searching for engaging, entertaining venues and new types of experiences.

“Rita’s Beerhall and Ballroom brings all of that together with a day-to-night like no other. It’s a place where everyone is welcome and anything can happen.”

Last month (November), Stonegate revealed it had invested £150,000 into two new pub formats within its managed estate.

The group stated launching Heritage Pubs and Pubsmiths ‘marked the evolution of Stonegate’s food-focused offer'.

Strategic decision

Both formats include a number of hand-picked pubs with Heritage focusing on pub classics in a cosy, family-friendly, rural setting while Pubsmiths features a drinks-led offer, in lively social spaces and serving small plates alongside shareable dishes in town and city locations.

At the time, McDowall said: “We recognise there can no longer be a ‘one size fits all’ approach for our pub and dining estate.

“By segmenting these pubs into two new formats, with Heritage Pubs including destination sites and Pubsmiths as town and city pubs, we’re able to better cater to the differing needs of our guests.

“This strategic decision was driven by listening to our team and guests, who shared their preferences, reasons for visiting and suggestions for improvement.

“This evolution is about setting up every site for success, putting the right pubs in the right places with the right offerings and we’re excited to see our guests' responses.”
