Lucky Saint stressed the importance of Christmas at the pub and about how to approach drinking the festivities.
It said many people are looking at ways to create balance when drinking and cited research from KAM Insights that a quarter of the UK population are ‘zebra striping’, which is the practice of alternating between alcohol-free and alcoholic drinks within a single visit to a pub or bar.
Incredibly busy time of year
More than 75% of the UK are consciously choosing to drink less alcohol throughout the year, according to the data, with Christmas being no different and one in three pub visits now are alcohol-free.
Lucky Saint founder Luke Boase said: “The pub is often at the heart of Christmas festivities so, for many, it can end up being an incredibly busy time of year.
“Whether you are zebra striping or choosing to drink alcohol-free for specific nights of the month, we know people are planning how they approach December and are seeking a more inclusive range of drinks.
“We’re thrilled that Greene King are supporting us to gift free Lucky Saint during the month in their pubs, and help people make conscious choices about what they drink this Christmas.”
Important role
Greene King Pubs managing director Zoe Bowley added: “As a leading pub company, we have an important role to play in offering products that allow our guests to join in the festivities however they wish to.
“It’s great to partner with Lucky Saint and offer our guests a free drink this December and we look forward to welcoming them into our pubs.”
Drinkaware CEO Karen Tyrell concluded: “Our research shows almost two thirds (61%) of UK drinkers say they drink more than usual over Christmas and new year. It is therefore good to know how your drinking is impacting your health and why we are supporting Lucky Saint and Greene King to help people enjoy the festive period by choosing low and no alcohol alternatives.”
