Heartwood Collection CEO Richard Ferrier said: “It has been a fantastic opportunity to create a new-build pub with rooms with a listed Georgian façade in the historic town of Newbury. With its elegant island bar, inviting nooks and charming rooms, we truly hope it will become a vibrant gathering place for the great and the good of Newbury for many years to come.”
Monumental point
Heartwood Inns have recently acquired a multitude of other sites including the White Horse, which opened in March of this year in Dorking, and the Ropemaker located in Emsworth opened in July, both sites followed million pound refurbishments. The White Horse marked Heartwood’s first pub with rooms and was acquired by the business in 2023 dating back to the 13th century. Speaking to The Morning Advertiser previously, Richard Ferrier stated he was “very proud” of the team describing the opening of the site marked a monumental point for the company’s history.

Both sites were set to undergo refurbishment during August of this year, with highlights including 17 boutique rooms at the Marlowe with a new dining room and bar to showcase 200 internal covers and a further 50 external. The Red Lion was set to offer 175 internal covers and an extra 200 external within the garden area.
