Valiant Pub Company acquires 70th site

Expanding: Valiant procures Elephant & Castle pub in Dawley taking its total number of sites to 70

Valiant Pub Company has acquired the Elephant & Castle pub in Shropshire, taking its total number of sites to 70.

The Grade II listed Telford pub, located on Dawley High Street, was procured by the Birmingham-based firm this week, marking its 70th pub.

In December last year, Valiant, which was founded in 2021 by Gerry Carroll and Mark McGinty and focuses on community pubs, also acquired four pubs from McManus Pub Company.

Significant presence 

Meanwhile, the multiple operator’s, which also has pubs with rooms, most recent trading update revealed its turnover had more than doubled to £18.2m in FY24, up from £8.3m in FY23.

While Valiant has established a significant presence in the north east, north west, midlands, and Wales, the company said it will continue to “enlarge its foothold” in the South as part of its ongoing growth strategy, adding it was “committed” to further acquisitions.

Backed with funding by Njord Partners and debt financing by Metro Bank, Valiant said it had plans to “significantly increase” its portfolio in the coming months.
