GBPA 2024: Best Town Pub, sponsored by Molson Coors – the Bull & Swan, Stamford

Recently refurbished and under new ownership, the Bull & Swan offers a welcoming environment with a focus on community, sustainability, and high-quality food and drink.

The spacious outdoor area, recently upgraded with a bar, seating for 148, and room for 200 standing, is a centrepiece of the pub.

Events schedule​

It hosts live music every Friday, BBQ weekends, and even outdoor cinema nights with blankets and popcorn—making it the only venue in the area with this unique offering. The garden’s produce is incorporated into the menu, enhancing dishes with homegrown ingredients.

Inside, the pub retains its rustic vibe with original wooden beams and antique décor, while offering a cosy, family-friendly atmosphere.

The food is a standout, featuring a mix of classic pub fare and signature dishes like the Bull Burger and homemade scotch eggs. The chef is also expanding vegan and vegetarian options, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

Community hub​

The drinks menu highlights local brews and gins, while the outdoor bar offers extra taps to keep things flowing.

Community engagement is a priority, with the pub sponsoring local sports teams and offering discounts to players. A cycle-to-work scheme, compostable packaging, and a focus on sourcing ingredients within 20 miles showcase their commitment to sustainability.

Looking ahead, the pub plans to further enhance its offerings with garden tours, more live events, and seasonal menu updates and an internal refurb of the main bar area. The refurbished bedrooms and expanding conference facilities also aim to attract a broader range of guests.
