Industry leaders have said the upcoming Oasis reunion tour could provide a £15m boost to businesses in the band’s city heartland of Manchester.

Frontmen Liam and Noel Gallagher yesterday (Tuesday 27 August) announced Oasis would be reuniting to embark on a UK tour next summer after disbanding in 2009.

While the news was welcomed by fans, voices from across the hospitality sector also shared their excitement, with the shows predicted to provide a £15m boost to trade in Oasis’ heartland alone, according to calculations based on previous events from Night-Time Economy Adviser Sacha Lord.

The band, which was founded in 1991, detailed they would perform multiple shows across the UK and Ireland in July and August 2025, including four concerts in Manchester’s Heaton Park.

Hugely impact

Lord said: "The Oasis reunion will create a hugely positive surge in hospitality. The impact of welcoming 80,000 people each night for the four planned gigs at Heaton Park cannot be underestimated and we are expecting an estimated benefit to the Greater Manchester economy of over £15m across the four events.

"Events aren't just about ticket sales, they have huge impacts on the local area and our hotels, pubs, bars, restaurants will all see the benefit, including extra hours for staff, as well as renewed global attention on the region and its cultural history."

"We are immensely proud of our music heritage here in Greater Manchester and we are excited to welcome the band home."

However, it was not just Manchester firms looking forward to a welcome trading boost, venues in other cities also shared their anticipation with the band set to also play a number of shows at Wembley Stadium in London as well as dates in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Dublin.

A spokesperson for pubco Fuller’s said: “Big concerts at Wembley are great news for hospitality businesses.

Good news

“For Fuller’s, today’s announcement should be good for The White Horse, our pub in the shadow of the Wembley Arch, and also our London hotels as many people come from far outside the capital for these events.

“Four days of Oasis should be good news – and it will be interesting to see how the drinks mix differs from Taylor Swift.”

In addition, food and retail park firm Boxpark, which has a venue next to Wembley Stadium, has started planning how it will welcome fans ahead of the London shows.

Boxpark head of events and marketing David Byrne told the MA: “Like most of the UK this week, Boxpark were thrilled to hear about the long and awaited Oasis reunion. Music is such a huge part of what we do on a day-to-day, and gigs like this not only give back to thousands of fans, but they’re hugely important for the economy and keeping the entertainment space alive.

"We won’t give too much away, but Boxpark Wembley is renowned for its official fan-parks which act as the go-to spot ahead of any key Wembley gigs. Most recently this summer, we hosted 8 jam-packed days of Taylor Swift events ahead of her UK tour, welcoming more than 60,000 'Swifties' across the tour.

"Our fan-parks are always created with a unique twist, ensuring fans are fully immersed and prepped for any gig. From celebrity lookalikes, to live performances, to drinks specials and group activities - we’re already planning what the Oasis fan-park will look like and cannot wait to see all the fans there.”
